Implementing GTD

Firetask is strongly inspired by David Allen's Getting Things Done approach to task management, but of course with its own "spin".

Implementing GTD

The main Firetask user interface is basically built around David Allen's GTD process grouping all major views into the areas Capture, Focus, and Organize. The idea behind this is that you can easily focus on the views and lists that you will need most often depending on the GTD process step you are currently in.

A good way to not forget about your weekly GTD review is to create a repeating task and really complete the task each time you are finished with a review. If you also want to reserve some explicit time of day for the review we suggest to put this instead into your calendar app of choice.

The global categories filter is stays active across views -- allowing you to filter any view or list in any perspective. The Kanban and Calendar views are now available in any actionable list (all tasks, portfolios, projects) as view types (perspectives).

We have put a lot of thought into our implementation of the GTD process and also continue to constantly rethink, refine and improve our interpretation of the Getting Things Done approach. We hope that Firetask helps you with your personal take on GTD and are happy about any feedback you can provide us -- of course including suggestions for improvements!
